RecallBox

Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 5, 2026

RecallBox is a mobile app developed by Kim Young Kil. It helps users save important images and find them later by searchable text, tags, notes, and metadata. This policy explains how RecallBox handles information.

Information stored by the app

RecallBox may store images selected by the user, generated thumbnails, OCR text, tags, notes, category information, search metadata, backup data, app settings, and Pro entitlement status on the user's device.

Local-first processing

RecallBox is designed to process images and OCR on the device. The app does not use server OCR, cloud sync, accounts, or automatic uploads for the core library experience.

Information not uploaded for search

Images, OCR text, notes, tags, filenames, local paths, search queries, phone numbers, email addresses, addresses, reservation numbers, order numbers, and backup contents are not uploaded to RecallBox servers for search or analysis.

Analytics and crash diagnostics

RecallBox does not currently use third-party analytics or crash reporting services. If this changes in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.

Purchases

RecallBox Pro purchases are processed through Google Play. RecallBox does not receive or store full payment card details.

Permissions

RecallBox may request access needed for selecting images, receiving shared images, saving backup files, or opening files. Permissions are used to provide the app's requested functions.

Backups

Pro backup files, when available, are created only when the user chooses to create them. The user selects where to save the backup file. RecallBox does not connect directly to a cloud storage API for automatic backup.

Retention and deletion

Data stored by RecallBox remains on the user's device until the user deletes images, removes app data, restores from a backup, or uninstalls the app. Uninstalling the app may delete local app data depending on the platform.

Children's privacy

RecallBox is not directed to children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us so we can review the issue.
